Trainee Graduate QA Technician – Entry Level or Progression Opportunity
Park Cakes is a c£180 million business which manufactures cake and desserts to supply the own brand products of major retailers. The vacancy is at our Oldham site which supplies mostly to M & S.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with excellent organisation and people skills to start a career in the Food Industry as a Trainee QA Technician reporting to the Factory Technical Manager.
Your role will work alongside production areas, educating, challenging and troubleshooting to prevent and resolve quality issues and ensure high quality standards are met.
Responsibilities Include:
Organise and attend QC panels on site and ensure corrective actions are followed up and communicated
Attend trials and product launches.
Investigation of Customer Complaints and attending Customer complaints meetings
Troubleshoot and supporting Operations / Technical in resolving issues
Ensuring foreign body controls are in place and adequate in production areas
Ensuring technical systems are in place in their factory / area and are being followed
Monitor the standards of hygiene, food safety, GMP, traceability, allergen management, legality and quality
Compiling, issuing and training of process control records and quality standards.
Auditing and monitoring of food safety, quality and legality within the factory.
Internal Auditing (systems, GMP, CCP audits)
Calibrate key equipment
Carrying out swabbing (Micro and allergen) as and when required
Ensuring their area / factory is to the best GMP standards ready for unannounced audits / customer visits.The Ideal Candidate:
Ideally a graduate or equivalent with a degree in a food related discipline but other subjects will be considered, equally we would consider someone with existing QA/QC experience.
Some work experience would be preferable.
Confidence and communication skills are key as you will need to challenge others and build relationships.
Organisation skills, the ability to prioritise is important as you will be working in a busy environment where you will be expected to make critical decisions using judgement and confidence.
IT skills such as excel, word and power point are essential as is a good standard of numeracy.
Applicants will be required to work on their own without supervision.
Understanding of Food Safety and Food Safety Systems such as HACCPHours: Initially you will be trained on days but you will then be required on a shift pattern working Wednesday to Saturday 7am to 3pm and Sunday 7am to 2pm. You must also be flexible to change your working hours at peak times.
Package: Salary for this position is £26,250, 25 days holiday a year and 8 statutory holidays, Pension scheme, Discount scheme on purchases from high street retailers
