One of our clients is going through an exciting period of growth and are looking for some passionate and committed night owls to join them in supporting their night-time shifts. This is an entry level position which poses as an excellent opportunity to gain experience and get your foot in the door to the sustainable energy sector. If you do well and are able to impress the client with your dedication and ambition to succeed, there may be potential to move into a permanent role later down the line.
Starting as soon as possible, the role will continue on a rolling basis for the next few months, approximately.
Please note that this position is to work night shifts – it is not possible to apply on the basis of typical office hours. This may also include some weekend work.
Temporary Graduate Scientific Opportunity Responsibilities
You will be monitoring a vital system that is crucial to company operations. Trusted with a large amount of responsibility, you will be the main point of contact for any issues or matters that arise overnight.
You will need to answer the phone, log notes regarding the details, and record these on the in-house system. Your ability to think on your feet and make decisions quickly will enable you to triage these errors effectively. For important or more major issues, you will simply need to escalate this to a more senior member of staff.
As you become more comfortable in the role, you will also be able to take on additional tasks and duties. These are likely to include:
Handling incoming queries
Monitoring batteries on behalf of client
Reviewing indicators
Resolving basic issues
Responding to National Grid
Performing Data Collection or Analysis tasks

The ability to remain calm when dealing with issues is essential for this role. You should have an appropriate level of acumen to allow you to handle highlighted matters appropriately.

The Location
This position will be based in our client’s office in Central Oxford. Sadly, there is no parking on site, although the office can be easily reached using bike or public transport.

Important information

The temporary assignment will continue on a rolling basis for the next few months
Working hours / schedule are 1 week (7 nights) on, 14 days off, Monday to Friday 6pm to 6am / Saturday and Sunday 9pm – 6:30am
If you are seeking more hours, there may possibly be additional daytime shifts for you to take on (during the ‘off’ weeks – you would not be expected to work all day, and then all night!)
As you will be working alone, the successfully appointed candidate will be required to complete a health questionnaire for a risk assessment perspective.
