This SEN Teaching Assistant role will give you strong foundations in Mental Health and SEN education to take into your Criminal and Youth Justice aspirations, especially if you aspire to work in Criminal, Youth Justice, Social justice.
If you have sincere and genuine aspirations within Probation or Parole, advocacy in the Criminal Justice System in general, this is a great SEN LSA role in which to start towards those aspirations. GSL requires someone who wants to sincerely advocate for SEMH children, understanding the student’s successes and challenges, all seen through a clinical and progressive and pragmatic lens.
The school like to invest in their Graduates who have sincere aspirations, those understand your objectives and goals within the industry. The majority of time, you will work with the same child or 2 or students, that is to help the students not to become too reliable
Being able to raise student’s emotional & academic attainment is crucial, the ability to connect, the first objective is to ensure the children feel safe in their surroundings. It’s been a struggle to get some students into school, their anxiety dictating the tiny amount of time in school, especially since Covid.
At the point of referral to the provision many pupils have additional, associated and sometimes complex needs, which may include low tolerance of stress, social anxiety, many of the young learner’s home lives will have similarities, while being very different in other respects in terms of what ‘home’ will look like.
It won’t always be apparent if a child is in the school and has an EHCP for their SEMH, when it could possibly be for an element of SEN that has been missed. This is not a good position to be in, of course it can happen, much the same as children who are in the mainstream, could well prosper better in a SEN specialist school.
