The successful Science Graduate Teaching Assistant will have a passion for Science that they are eager to share with others. You do not need to have any previous experience working in a school-based environment as training and support is provided however any previous experience working with the 11-16 age range would be advantageous.

The successful Science Graduate Teaching Assistant will be motivated to start a career as a Science Teacher and would benefit and appreciate a year working within a Science department to strengthen their knowledge of lesson planning, lesson delivery, behaviour management, marking and assessment.

As a Science Graduate you will initially start out as a Teaching Assistant whilst getting to grips with the school’s processes and policies. You will be communicating topics to students on a 1:1 basis; helping them to overcome any barriers to learning. In time, you will be tasked with planning and delivering your own small group intervention sessions with the ultimate aim of leading your own lessons prior to the end of the placement. You will be allocated a mentor who will support you throughout your time at the school.

Having completed a Science Graduate Support role for an academic year, there will be opportunities to explore remaining at the school and commencing your teacher training from September 2020.
