Special educational needs and disabilityEmpowering Learning are recruiting Psychology & Sociology Graduates for our highly regarded Exploring SEND workshop on Tuesday 7th January 2020. If you are a graduate considering a future in teaching and looking for classroom-based experience, then our SEND workshop will give you the opportunity to start your career in Education as a Learning Support Assistant within a SEND setting. Our SEND specialist will deliver an Introduction to working with children and young adults with special needs. You will be required to attend a 1-day workshop, which will cover different areas of SEND such as working with pupils with PMLD, Autism and Down Syndrome. This workshop will also look into dealing with Challenging Behaviour and will help you better understand how to deal with this when working as a Learning Support Assistant. Once the 1-day workshop is completed, we will then help you find a voluntary placement for 3-5 days within one of our partnered SEND schools based in London. The 1-day Exploring SEND workshop will be FREE of charge, and your voluntary placement is unpaid, once both are completed, you will be able to work for Empowering learning as a Learning Support Assistant on a part-time or full-time basis.

Experience of supporting children or young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities is desirable
Able to stay calm and de-escalate challenging Behaviour
Valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one
