Part – time Postgraduate Student Administrator – £15.28ph plus Hol Pay – Central London

Start Immediately for two months initially

Part – time – two days per week (must work between Tuesday to Thursday)

We are recruiting for an experienced Part – time Postgraduate Student Administrator to join one of London’s leading Universities. If you have previous experience gained within a Higher Education institute, we’d love to hear from you!


Postgraduate Research Recruitment

* Work closely with Departments in marketing and publicity to encourage Postgraduate Research applications

* Ensure systems are in place to deal effectively with enquiries and applications

* Support and advise applicants on funding opportunities and the Department’s Postgraduates Research offer

* Manage studentship applications on the in house portal

* Provide high quality advice to staff and applicants

Postgraduate Research Administration

* Work pro-actively with the Postgraduate Tutor on all matters relating to the Postgraduate Research programme and students

* Planning and organising Postgraduate Research students’ induction and training

* Maintaining Postgraduate Research students’ records in the relevant systems

* Monitoring Postgraduate Research students and reporting to ensure theses are submitted within four years

Engagement Monitor

* Ensuring visa compliance including engagement monitoring.

* Responsible for communicating with the Department’s Tier 4 students on their attendance, handling of interruptions, study away from university

* Supervisors on student engagement, maintaining the audit trails, the handling of interruptions, study away

* Liaising with Faculty and Student Immigration Compliance Team on students’ circumstances

Other Duties

* Facilitating scholarship applications to deadlines for all central and Doctoral Training Partnership funding rounds

* Updating and maintaining the Postgraduate Research sections of the Department’s website and any requirements for the website

* Servicing the Postgraduate Research Staff Student- Consultative committee meetings

* Providing statistical information as required for a range of purposes

* Having an active role in the organisation of postgraduate Open Days or alumni activities and events and to participate in these events as required

* Work as part of the School’s administrative team


* Strong IT skills

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Excellent interpersonal skills

* Very good organisational and time management skills

* Strong numeracy skills

* Ability to work effectively with others, co-operate with colleagues and help the team to achieve its goals

* Strong sense of personal responsibility and commitment to excellent customer service and student support

* Understanding of the particular needs and challenges of research students

* Experience of using digital media in communications

* Willingness and ability to learn and use new systems quickly

* Committed to providing a responsive and helpful service
