History/Geography Graduate – Academic Support (1:1 and Small Groups) – Ipswich

***Humanities Academic Mentor position commencing ASAP

***Working 1:1 and leading small group intervention sessions within Humanities
***Working alongside an experienced Head of Department and a very passionate Headteacher
***£65-£70 per day

Humanities Academic Mentor Specification – what do you need to be considered for this role?

– Minimum of a 2:1 degree within a Humanities related degree (History, Geography, Environmental Science, Geology, Citizenship, Religious Studies)
– GCSEs of C or above in English, Maths and Science
– The desire to work towards qualifying as a Humanities Teacher in the future
– A love of education and the determination required to pass this on to the next generation!
– The confidence, creativity and enthusiasm needed to motivate the 11-16 age range
– The resilience needed to deal with challenging situations calmly and professionally

About the Humanities Academic Mentor role

As an Academic Mentor, you will be tasked with delivering 1:1 and small group interventions to enhance the learning and confidence of your students within key areas of the Humanities curriculum. You will predominantly work alongside the 11-16 age range; sparking an interest and increasing the motivation of KS3 students and helping students within KS4 to feel confident prior to taking their History and Geography GCSEs.

A graduate who can think creatively and unlock the potential of students within the Humanities subject areas will be the perfect fit for this role.

Once settled into your Humanities Academic Mentor role, you may get the chance to lead larger groups within History or Geography. This experience will be incredibly helpful for those graduates who are considering future careers as a Teacher of Humanities.
