Graduate Teaching Assistant opportunity in a small, outstanding Guildford-based school with academy status.
We are recruiting for this small special school that is renowned for having high ambitions and strong commitment to best preparing pupils for life beyond school, and this is reflected in their vision and values.
The school provides education for Surrey children from age 2 to 19 with a range of severe and complex learning disabilities, and profound and multiple learning disabilities (including complex medical needs). A very high proportion of pupils also have a diagnosis of ASD as well as additional complex needs.
Classes are structured to promote communication, emotional regulation, self-help and independence. The teachers have expert knowledge in specialist strategies including TEACCH, Attention Autism, PECS, PODD, Bricks for Autism and Intensive Interaction.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher and therapy teams to ensure each child progresses towards their goals, and you will gain experience working with mild to severe learning difficulties, sensory impairment, Autism, and complex needs.
You will learn and gain experience in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, and many other strategies used in the school.
You will need:
