Graduate Vehicle Simulation Engineer Silverstone, Northants
£27-30k + bonus + benefits
This is a new opening that has been created for a graduate / junior vehicle simulation engineer to join a successful and expanding automotive technology company. The company is involved with the design, development and manufacture of innovative electric motors and electric drive (e-drive) solutions for the electric vehicle marketplace.
* The position may suit a graduate or junior engineer with relevant project or work experience (e.g., dissertation, internship, post-graduate study or work experience)
* The candidate would need to demonstrate the use of appropriate 1D simulation tools applied to vehicle powertrain systems (e.g., CarMaker, GT Power, etc)
* Experience of simulation and modelling of vehicle powertrain systems (ideally xEV or xHEV)
* Able to understand and interpret customer requirements, provide analysis and feedback using simulation
This role will offer support to customer projects by providing vehicle simulations to aid in the demonstration of solutions, including powertrain optimisation, efficiency, and configuration.
The role would suit a graduate (bachelors / masters) with 1-2 years of industry experience (internship or post-graduate work experience) utilising relevant simulation tools and applied to relevant vehicle systems projects. A background in engineering is important (e.g. mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, aerospace engineering or similar.)
Skills / Knowledge Required:
* A degree or Masters in a relevant subject area (e.g., automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, control systems etc)
* Use of appropriate simulation tools (1D etc) for example CarMaker, GTPower, Matlab, Simulink etc
* Experience of automotive systems would be required (e.g., IC engines, powertrain system, engine performance and emissions, hybrid, or electric vehicle systems, ADAS, vehicle dynamics / suspension / chassis, etc)
* Excellent time management, presentation, and communication skills
* Excellent mathematical knowledge (e.g., development of algorithms for complex control and simulation systems.)
* An appreciation of systems engineering and ideally model based systems engineering
* Software programming experience would be preferred (C, Python, etc)
More – beneficial:
* Relevant involvement with Formula student would be great
* Experience in other programming languages (e.g., Python)
* Experience with other powertrain modelling tools (e.g. Dymola)

Location: Commutable from Banbury, Bicester, Oxford, Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Leamington Spa, Towcester, Silverstone, and Buckingham etc
