We have a vacancy for a Graduate Trainee to join us at our Site in Reading / Hichrom.

In this role, you will be working on an early shift (0600am – 1415pm).

Salary: £21,500 plus £10 shift allowance per day for each shift worked.

Reporting to: Laboratory Production Manager

Job duties and responsibilities:

* To ensure both your own and your colleague’s safety, by working in accordance to all relevant Production and Environmental, Health & Safety procedures, promptly reporting any incidents or accidents to a manager

* To undertake process operations as directed by a manager, in accordance with all relevant production procedures and process instructions

* Follow process procedures diligently, and give feedback for process improvements

* All work areas to be kept clean to ensure an uncontaminated and organised environment

* Perform basic routine maintenance and report any issues to the Facilities Manager to minimise instrument downtime.

* Communicative effectively with supervisors and colleagues, particularly supporting colleagues to cover workload during breaks and across shifts

* Initial training aimed at column manufacture, with accelerated progression to cover a wide range of products and production techniques

* Additional training opportunities within the Bonded Materials, R&D/Applications and Technical Support departments, with possible future career opportunities within these departments

* Participation in company run HPLC seminars

Qualifications:

* Good level of education, including English and Maths.

* Chemistry degree (2:1 or above)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

* Strong practical skills.

* Ability to work as part of a team, as well as being self-motivated and being able to use initiative.

* Capability to prioritise workload and multi-task.

* High level of attention to detail.

* Ability to understand and follow Health & Safety instructions.

* A commitment to quality standards and the importance of following procedures.

* Resilience to work under sustained pressure.

Environmental working conditions & Physical effort:

This role is predominantly laboratory based however some degree of lifting and heavy work is likely with the daily moving of equipment, machinery and supplies.
