A special school in Barnsley are seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant on a long term basis from March 2021.
Provide Education are working with a specialist SEN setting who are seeking a graduate who is interested in a future career in Special Needs teaching. Our client is a generic special school, providing a differentiated curriculum for pupils aged 2-19.
As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA), you will work alongside a specialist team of teachers, care staff and support assistants to deliver a programme of learning that is tailored to meet the specific needs of SEN pupils. A key aspect of working in this field is identifying individual needs and being responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside specialist teachers. In addition to supporting pupils to access learning activities, you will take on additional responsibilities which will include contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans, reviewing pupils' progress towards outcomes, and attending Annual Review meetings alongside teachers and parents/carers.
We welcome applications from recent graduates with a range of degree specialisms. However, we would especially like to hear from those who have completed studies in the following areas:
* Psychology
* Education Studies
* Sports Sciences
* Social Care
* Youth Work
You may also have received training in PECS, Makaton, TEACCH, and/or Team Teach – however this is not essential.
