A Sheffield based client is looking to recruit a graduate with at least 18 months commercial experience.

The client provides cloud-hosted recruitment system used by NHS Trusts. It handles the whole recruitment episode from before the job is advertised, right through to criminal records checks and induction training. The system is the best available and we have lots of plans for making it even better!

They have a very strong technical focus – their systems have millions of lines of object oriented PHP code and large backend databases.

You will be joining team of 15 IT people in Sheffield and they have a staff of 50 people in Bakewell who handle the system support and sales.

Currently use open source technologies: PHP 7, PostgreSQL, HTML, CSS, JQuery, Bootstrap, JavaScript and Linux.


* MSc/BSc degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science (preferably 1st or 2.1)

* Good understanding Object Oriented (OO) programming

* Experience of web application development using technologies such as PHP 7, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, JQuery. Experience can be from personal development rather than employment.

* A strong work ethic and the motivation to learn and solve problems without constant supervision

* Around 18 months commercial experience – can be freelance work, internship or personal experience


"Nice to have" but by no means essential: User interface design, Git, SOLR/Lucene.

Interview process:

One stage process: there will be a technical task at this interview. The candidate should bring any code samples or portfolios of work they have done that showcases their skills/work.
