The Headteacher of an inclusive primary in South East London is seeking a Graduate SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant who wants to progress into clinical psychology educational, psychology or those who may want to become a fully qualified teacher.

This role would be ideal for a Psychology Graduate with a genuine interest in the social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) of primary aged pupils. The school are looking for a graduate who has already gained some experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.

The Teaching Assistant post involves supporting pupils with complex social and behavioural issues in KS1 and KS2. The SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant will need to be a Psychology graduate who can display patience, resilience and empathy even in the most challenging situations. The Headteacher wants to meet a SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant who can offer support and nurture the pupils and work hard to understand the root causes of their behaviour and drive development.

Due to the specialist nature of this 1:1 post, it would be suitable for a Psychology graduate, looking to develop their career in Clinical or Educational Psychology. It might also be suitable for a graduate with a knowledge of SEMH looking for experience of SEN before training to become a teacher.
