The Graduate Production Manager will be responsible for a team of operatives executing standard processes to complete production plans safely, to defined quality standards and manage day to day operations within the cell. This includes ownership of the manufacturing process from order receipt, through the production flow and into finished goods.

Health and Safety

Deliver the cell Health and Safety standards, control all aspects of the cell safety and contribute site standards.

Promote safe working and monitor for compliance of all safety standards

Strong intervention is expected where standards are not being met.

Support Safety Champions to ensure all H&S audits and risk assessment reviews are completed on time.

Reduce risks and encourage a culture of safe working communication to operators the importance of 15 Seconds to Think and the 5 Golden Rules of Safety.

Complete accident and incidents reports to required standard and within 24hr timeframe escalate to H&S contact

Take a proactive approach to compliance works and safety improvement projects within the Production area.

People Management

Develop skills and competence of Production Team to deliver site results via –

Carrying out Year End and Mid Year Reviews with direct reports in Cells 1,2,3

Working in collaboration with Production Trainer to ensure that training matrix is maintained and training plans are being executed in timely fashion by the Production Trainer.

Support development via regular development discussions (quarterly) throughout the year.

Performance management of under performing staff.

Uphold appropriate people resource for utilisation and effectiveness of cell via –

Managing absence and holidays in line with established guidelines.

Working in collaboration with the Production Trainer to ensure that training matrix is maintained and training plans are being executed in timely fashion by the Production Trainer.

Take a proactive approach to the personal development of your team and identify talent/succession planning opportunities with support from site HR.

KPI / Scorecard Achievement

Lead team to achieve the Production Scorecard KPIs

H&S – Support H&S Agenda & Activities to deliver against Accident reduction targets

Quality – Driving quality standards through establishing a basic quality plan and investigating deviations thoroughly.

Management of cell wastage, Internal auditing requirements, External auditing requirements

Challenging the production team and others to ensure that target output, OEE and Line Efficiency targets are being achieved.

Cost Control – Manage Overtime and Agency Spend in linkage with Operations Manager to ensure budget targets are achieved.

PO processing and ensuring correct allocation to Cost Centres

Planning – liaise with the Supply Chain Team to agree the weekly plan for all lines to best manage stocks as per MRD.

Take an active role in the vision of one "Offsite Team" and reaching Operational Full Potential at the site.

Focus on production efficiencies within the 80 areas and treating the 20 areas differently.

Project implementation

Deliver (execute) standard processes. Including, but not restricted to:

Asset care tasks assigned to the cell, All hygiene procedures, Housekeeping and 6S processes.

Attendance at daily performance reviews (Control Room) Shift start-up and handover procedures

Play a key part in delivering Operational Full Potential – focus on the continuous improvement process.

Lead teams in USa discussions/improvement projects using company Toolbox.

Influence smooth running of coordination between manufacturing and the warehouse.

Root cause analysis


Working knowledge of 6s, Six Sigma, SMED and Kaizen Models.

A good understanding of basic Health & Safety principles – and an ability to progress this knowledge.

An in-depth understanding of metal pressing & folding operations desirable.

Effective leadership skills, able to work together with plant staff and management.

Ability to conduct and follow up on root cause analysis

Team player, able to be flexible as part of a fast-moving focused organization.

Comfortable with applying company business model – decentralized entrepreneurial culture, 80/20 business process, customer-back innovation
