Assistant Buyer – Leicester – £24-25k
Chase & Holland are proud to be working with a bespoke independently ran engineering business based in Leicester who are recruiting an Assistant Buyer to join their team. This is fantastic as our client is offering very clear progression opportunities for someone wanting to become a Senior Buyer.
This role is an entry level position within the purchasing team with a key purpose of ensuring that all parts and services are delivered on time from Suppliers.
Assistant Buyer Responsibilities:
Expedite purchase orders
Contact suppliers before delivery to ensure delivery expectations are met and update MRP/ERP accordingly
Assist with sourcing new suppliers for parts and negotiating rates and terms
Ensure all purchase orders are acknowledged by suppliers and updated on MRP
Liaise with shop floor to ensure all their production requirements are met
Ensure all parts are on order against works and sales orders
Advise delivery dates that could affect production
Assist in stocktaking and reports
Process parts from outside process, preparation of paperwork and delivery/collection
Raise and process relevant documentation for returning defective parts to suppliers
Periodically conduct site visits to suppliers for stage inspections
Work to deadlines and changing priorities whilst maintaining a high standard
Participate in continual improvements for safety and throughput Hours: Full-time, Monday to Thursday 8:00 – 4:30 and Friday 8:00 – 1:30 (37.5 hours per week)
Required Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in purchasing or a materials role
Previous experience of internal stock systems (MRP or ERP) and Excel
Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills
Excellent problem solver, innovative and creative thinker
Self-motivated, self-starting and highly organised with the ability to work unsupervised
Adaptable to change, resilient, with a proactive and dynamic approach
Passionate about Customer service
Good negotiating and influencing skills
Comfortable and confident dealing with client/supplier facing issues
Willing to develop within the Purchasing team and potentially undertake external qualifications In Return You’ll Receive:
