Our client is one of the biggest distributors of electrical appliances in the UK. They are currently looking to recruit a Graduate Operations Support Planner in driver control to manage the safe and effective routing of their in-house transport fleet.
Duties and responsibilities
* To be responsible for the daily planning (utilising Maxoptra routing software) of in-house UK nationwide fleet of (10-20) HGV vehicles to a pre-determined Service Level Agreement / Customer promise.
* Responsible for ensuring that the integrity of the sales order transfer from the inhouse ERP system.
* Able to fully appreciate the API for the planning system, and capable of suggesting improvements, and testing alternatives, in the way the planning system is used. Given a wide range of available system functionality and possible approaches.
* Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resource (vehicles and drivers) ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU drivers’ hours regulations).
* Monitor daily driver Track and Trace and put in place measures to reduce failed or late deliveries.
* Undertake daily driver debrief sessions and take appropriate actions included Failed Deliveries, Collections and Customer liaison with Customer Care team
* Understanding and achieving key performance targets relating to the safety and cost efficiency of our fleet.
* Management of courier and pallet delivery orders to be sent on a 3PL next day delivery arrangement
Other tasks dependant upon experience
* Back-up for warehouse loading teams and supervisor role – FLT license and vehicle shunter requirement.
* Development of any process improvements, taking into account cost efficiency and customer service
Skills and experience
* IT Competency including Excel and Word
* Understanding of windows file handling and data manipulation between applications
* General ability to self-teach the functionality of complex computer application
* Able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
* Robust and personable, able to work in a transport environment
* Customer Service experience (desirable but not essential)
* Understanding of UK road network and routing software (desirable but not essential)
