Graduate Mechanical Engineer / Experienced Development Engineer
Our client, part of an international engineering organisation with a base near Stockport, is now looking to recruit a Mechanical Development Engineer to join the team ASAP!
This role would be suitable for either a graduate engineer with some industry experience, OR an experienced Development Engineer looking for a new challenge!
Brief:
Through the application of sound engineering principles and practices and for the benefit of the company, its strategic, market and financial objectives, to research and develop ideas for new products and the systems used to make them. Strive to continually improve the performance and efficiency of existing products and support the company’s objective to provide products tailored to meet specific customer needs.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Carry out New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through the creation of Product Codes, Bills of Materials, Detail Drawings (finished part, production & pre-production), O&M Manuals, internal & external training materials, marketing collateral, etc;
2. Assist with assembly and testing as required for production support or NPI activity;
3. Where testing results do not meet expectations or non-conformances are identified carry out root cause analysis and make recommendations for corrective action or improvement;
4. Creation and refinement of technical mechanical part and assembly drawings to capture design intent and document the key aspects necessary to accomplish the design goals;
5. Maintenance of Bills of Materials;
6. Creation, control, and maintenance of design changes;
7. Always consider the safety of people by avoiding ideas that could endanger them and apply integrated safety principles that ‘design in’ safety;
8. Consider always national and international safety regulations and legislation;
9. Help to ensure compliance to prescribed QMS and GMP processes;
10. Liaising among different departments, e.g. sales, suppliers, managers, production;
11. Working with managers to implement the company's policies and goals;
12. Ensure compliance to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of people, facilities and equipment;
13. Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through by supporting change management processes and best practices
