Graduate Learning Support Assistant
Cardiff, 32.5 hrs.
A fantastic provision within one of Cardiff’s largest secondary schools is requiring motivated Graduates to take on Learning Support Assistant roles working with pupils aged 11 – 16 with Additional Needs.
As a graduate, the knowledge and skills taken from your degree are a huge benefit to the young people you work with. Academically, you can provide support as learners take on an adapted curriculum tailored to their individual needs. Pupils also benefit from having a positive role model who is relatable and proactive to enable them to have a fulfilling education experience. Many of our graduates are aiming for careers in Teaching, Psychology, Counselling or Therapy. The experience that they gain in our schools supports with applications to various further study courses and roles.
Role and Responsibilities:
– Provide 1-2-1 and small group support for learners with Additional Needs, including developing and delivering intervention sessions in key subject areas.
– Liaise with parents and caregivers, as well as senior members of the team, to monitor and support pupils’ progress.
– Adapt the National Curriculum, with support, to suit learners’ individual needs, interests, and abilities.
– Take part in activities within the provision, including use of the garden, kitchen, art, sports, and music facilities.
