Job Title: Software Developer at Connexica

As part of the Staffordshire Digital Innovation Partnerships project, Staffordshire University has entered into a partnership with an innovative and growing Staffordshire based company who specialise in the development and delivery of data management and analytics software solutions to a range of different markets.

We are looking to recruit a graduate to take on a 6-month initial contract to research and develop a new data modelling capability based on machine-learning technology for inclusion as a module within the established Connexica CXAIR data management and analytics platform. The project will also involve the creation of a series of end-user solutions which will apply the developed technology to a range of real-world industry challenges.

Working closely with the existing Connexica Development team, you will use your knowledge of machine-learning concepts to research, design, and develop new software through the end-to-end development lifecycle. You will also be responsible for identifying appropriate use cases for the application of the new technology and working closely with industry partners to build and deploy solutions based on the developed technology with a focus on ensuring the delivery real business benefit to Connexica clients.

Duties and responsibilities

* Work with development team to evaluate and validate existing development prototypes against established machine-learning theory.

* Work with the management/development team to agree a strategic approach based on results of initial evaluation

* Work with the management/development team to create a project plan

* Work with the development team to create a technical design consistent with existing company development approach

* Develop the code to implement the proposed modelling framework consistent with existing company programming standards

* Work with the management/development team to identify appropriate exemplar industry use cases for the developed technology

* Liaise with nominated industry partners to use the developed technology to build exemplar analytic solutions

* Train the development team to enable them to perform ongoing maintenance of the developed system.

* Create technical documentation to explain the processes and concepts that underpin the new technology

* Report on project impact to the management team.

Skills and experience

* IT/Computing undergraduate or graduate

* Strong communication skills, being able to work as part of a team and as an individual.

* Energy and enthusiasm, determination to succeed

* Good organisational skill and focused, problem-solving ability

* Prepared to fully participate in the commitment of the company to achieving the goals of the project

* Interest in and passion for new product design and in particular developing computer based automatic testing

* Programming skills, in particular Java would be an advantage

The position is offered on a full time, fixed term contract for 6 months with the potential to extend to 12 months (subject to review)

Hours and Days: Mon-Fri, 9am – 5.30pm

Dress Code: Casual

The salary is equivalent to £24,000 pro rata and is based on an hourly rate of £12.31 plus a holiday enhancement
