Graduate GIS Administrator (Planning Department)

Location: Epping, Essex

Working Hours: 9.00am – 5.00pm, Monday – Friday

Hourly Pay Rate: £11.78 Per Hour (Weekly Pay)

Length of the role: Temporary ongoing (with potential to go permanent long term)

Start Date: ASAP!

Job brief:

My client is looking for a well organised individual to assist with the daily operations within the planning department. The successful candidate will require an excellent attention to detail, along with the ability to adapt to various situations and requirements within the office.

Individual characteristics:

Process orientated, commercially minded, problem solver, and preferably an interest in Geography and the environment!

Job Responsibilities:

To research and collect information and data by site visits, surveys, from the Internet, and from published and unpublished sources.

To use Geographic Information Systems (G.I.S.) and other means to relate various information to geographic areas; to investigate, establish and present spatial patterns and relationships; and generally, use G.I.S. in a pro-active way.

To use G.I.S within Planning Policy, ensuring integration and compatibility of data and systems with others.

To prepare material for, and mount public exhibitions of, planning proposals and related matters and lead on the logistical organisation and running of public consultation events.

To collect, analyse and report data for Planning Policy performance indicators; participate in service quality initiatives and draw attention to operational matters requiring improvement or resolution; and to recommend changes.

To undertake other Planning Policy duties on a temporary basis, as directed by the Planning Policy Manager or Principle Planning Officer (Policy).

To work with and deputise for the Administrative Officer on a reciprocal basis, and to deputise as appropriate following instruction from the Planning Policy Manager or Principle Planning Officer (Policy).

Skills:

Educated to degree level

Knowledge of GIS would be very advantageous

Excellent organisational and multitasking skills

A team player with a high level of dedication

Ability to work under strict deadlines

Commercially minded
