Post: Geotechnical Engineer
Graduate Engineering Geologist Responsible to: Team Leader/Director
Minimum requirements of post holder:
• Degree in geology or civils‐related subject with relevant experience.
• Experience in supervising drilling rigs.
• CSCS and full UK driving licence essential.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Pro), Holebase/AGS required.
• Must have good administrative and communication skills.
• Must be organised, conscientious and motivated with good leadership skills.
Rail experience desirable.
Proficiency in Autosketch and/or other drawing packages advantageous.
Other industry competencies desirable.
Specific responsibilities of the post:
• Project Management to achieve time/quality/legislative compliance.
• Site management.
• Site responsibility for HSEQ legislation and compliance.
• Ensure RISQS and HSEQ disciplines/procedures are maintained on site.
• Supporting information, giving Toolbox Talks and briefings, etc.
• To co‐ordinate resources to meet planned work activities.
• To carry out the appropriate tasks as outlined/briefed by the safety/site supervisor.
• To give feedback at appropriate site/management meetings.
• Examination of geological maps and logging of soils on‐ and off‐site.
• Design and implementation of site investigations.
• Production of site and interpretive reports to BS5930 and Eurocode7.
• Training of drillers on soil descriptions and logging.
• To mentor Graduate Engineers in all aspects of the role.
• To be working towards Chartership.
• To comply with the Company's HSEQ policies and responsibilities, as outlined in the HSEQ Manual.
• To wear and maintain the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to required standard.
• To attend medical screenings and D&A tests as required.
• Maintenance of vehicle, plant and equipment, reporting breakages and consumables.
• To complete and return all relevant paperwork in a timely manner.
• To attend briefings and training, as required.
• Any other related duties to meet the demands of the business
