Job Title: Graduate Environmental Consultant

Location: Kent

A national engineering consultancy and highways provider are looking to recruit a Graduate Environmental Consultant into their Kent Environmental Assessment team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects in the major infrastructure, transport and energy sectors.

About the role:

The role requires the successful applicant to engage in a variety of environmental projects across the UK within the built environment. In joining the Safety and Sustainability team, initially the role will focus on environmental assessments, but as you develop there are wider opportunities to engage in areas such as undertaking sustainability & energy statements, air quality assessments and ecological surveying.

Responsibilities:

Core duties of the Graduate Consultant will include:

Assisting with the management of EIA's for transport/ infrastructure/ environmental developments
Assisting with the coordination of in-house and external specialists for multidisciplinary environmental and engineering projects
Drafting Environmental Statement (ES) chapters, technical reports and presentations.
Undertaking desk based research projects
Carrying out site surveys and assisting with the collation of data. This is a wide ranging role which will give the successful graduate the opportunity to get involved in a variety of technical disciplines including Land Conditioning, Ecology, and EIA, Health and Safety and Sustainability assessment, developing an assortment of key environmental skills.

Qualifications / Experience:

As a graduate consultant, you will have:

An appropriate degree and IEMA Membership
MSc Desirable
Knowledge of Phase 1 habitat surveys
EPS licence, eg great crested newt, dormouse desirable
A strong knowledge of EIA, best practice guidelines, the UK planning process and Environmental Law
Bright, versatile and technically minded with an aptitude for working in a client facing environment.
Excellent report writing, communication and team working skills.
Competency with AutoCAD/GIS softwareThis roles offer excellent career progression opportunities within a friendly and professional team.
