The Opportunity
Due to their remarkable growth and unwavering commitment to sustainability, this employer is offering an exceptional opportunity for a Database and Graphics Engineer to join their Energy Control Systems Team. This team specializes in designing, commissioning, and supporting control projects for long-term engagement. They employ innovative Energy Control Systems (ECS), combining industrial PLCs with graphics and reporting packages, to create comprehensive SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) solutions, setting them apart from conventional BMS (Building Management Systems). Their focus revolves around enhancing the efficiency and resilience of systems within the district heating, solar, and healthcare sectors.
The Role
The employer is seeking an individual to support the development of graphics for Human-Machine Interfaces, as well as the databases that underpin these graphics and enable automated reporting. This role is a hybrid position that includes remote work, on-site tasks, and office-based responsibilities. Ideally, the candidate should be located near one of their hubs in Glasgow, Blackburn, or Central London.
Working in tandem with the ECS Software & Graphics Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass:
Attaining proficiency in relevant software packages, including Aveva Edge, through a combination of formal and ad-hoc learning.
Assisting the broader organization with data requests and providing support to modeling consultants and clients.
Troubleshooting data loss and communication issues, distinguishing between reporting errors and hardware-related problems.
Ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement), and site working practices.
Completing weekly timesheets, mileage, and expense reports to allocate costs correctly to contracts.
Effective communication through written reports, Teams meetings, and on-site meetings with the team and the wider organization.
Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, personal appearance, and punctuality.
Undertaking other duties consistent with the nature and responsibilities of the role.
The Ideal Candidate

A degree in an IT or computer science-related discipline.
GCSE qualifications with grades C and above in Math, English, and Science or Technology subjects.
A basic understanding of electrical principles and/or electronics.
