Graduate Cover Supervisor

Full time from September 2020

The School, based in the West Sussex area considered having ‘outstanding’ leadership and ‘outstanding’ personal development and welfare are seeking to appoint a graduate cover supervisor from September 2020.

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will be suitably trained to supervise students carrying out pre-prepared exercises in the absence of the usual teacher across a variety of subjects. The main role of a cover supervisor is managing the classroom ensuring students remain on task in a safe and stimulating learning environment. Students should be given clear and concise instruction and you will guide them in their learning and manage behaviour according to school policy. You should have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively with students and staff and have a good sense of humour. The ability to build good professional relationships is fundamental to being successful in this role.

This role would be well suited to a graduate who has a genuine interest in training to teach in the future. The school is set up well to take graduates through their teacher training and is something they would look to offer to a graduate who demonstrates traits of an excellent teacher throughout their time as a Cover Supervisor. Usually graduates spend the first year at this school working as a Cover Supervisor before transitioning onto thier teacher training programme.
