A motivated R&D / Chemical Process Development Technician is required for our exclusive market leading manufacturing company based in the Andover region of Hampshire. This is a fixed term contract of 1 year covering maternity leave so would suit a recent chemical engineering graduate looking to gain some industry experience. Reporting into the Senior Development Chemist within the Research & Development Laboratory, The purpose of this challenging role is new product and process development, assisting evaluating and developing manufacturing processes and procedures, This position would suit a food science, organic chemistry or chemical engineering graduate or someone with relevant experience in a food manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment or similar.

The ideal process technician candidate will have the following experience and skills;

* Bsc, Scientific Degree in food science, organic chemistry or chemical engineering or applied natural science, process technology or ideally food technology

* Relevant research and development/ process development experience in a food manufacturing environment, laboratory placement or similar

* Good numeracy /numerical ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data

* High attention to detail with a passion for continuous improvement

* Good experience of MS Office particularly Excel

* Knowledge of technical aspects of food production including HACCP and BRC standards is desirable

Responsibilities of this process technologist role include assisting in the following:

* New product development, process development, providing technical support and further development of the current production process

* Responsible for day to day running of the wet (pilot) laboratory including basic maintenance and hygiene in conjunction with Development Chemist.

* Scale-up and monitoring of processes for new products at pilot plant level as required and assist in the transfer to production.

Maintain accurate records and data and documentation- eg factory based trials

* Investigate customer complaints, QC failures and production problems

* Develop and implement process control procedures in conjunction with the quality assurance and production groups.

* Assist in development and implementation of procedures to ensure the department is compliant with current regulations and BRC / HACCP requirements
