ESS Recruit’s client is based in Livingston. Well established, they are a high technology equipment supplier into a range of sectors; including, medical devices, electronics, semiconductors and industrial manufacturing.
Currently enjoying a period of growth, they need to make the key hire of an Optical Alignment & Test Engineer for the Photonics production department. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a world leading instrumentation manufacturer to help build state of the art instrumentation to be installed in leading research facilities and universities all over the world. Knowledge of optical spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy would be a distinct advantage in this role.
Applicants should have a good understanding of optics and precision mechanical and optical assemblies, previous experience in optical alignment and working in a controlled environment would be preferential. The successful candidate will also be familiar with current production practices and measuring equipment.
Reporting to the System Test Manager you will be part of the System Test team that is ultimately responsible for ensuring the timely alignment and validation of their portfolio of analytical systems and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
Alignment of fluorescent spectrometer products.
Building mechanical subassemblies essential for spectrometers.
Final- stage testing of spectrometers.
Assist Operations with final Stage Test on site and off site.
Maintain and store product test records in accordance with Company operating procedures.
Responsible for ensuring testing is completed in accordance with company procedures.
Pass / Fail – System Stage Testing.
Identifying and advising of any changes requiring the raising of an ECN to electronic designs. and specifications of company products.
To ensure non-conforming assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts are identified and appropriate actions taken to resolve non-conformance
Sign off completion of NCR’s from Test. You will ideally have a degree in a science related subject (Physics / Chemistry etc.) or relevant work experience, together with a knowledge of optical components. Previous experience in a test role and with the alignment scientific products would be advantageous.
