Electronics Design Engineer

Coventry area, UK £30-40k + benefits

This is a new role for a graduate or junior electronics design engineer that has a natural interest in technology and is keen to develop their skills in a small but growing technology company.

It is a product development and design role and will focus on the design, build and test of electronics systems for the company’s products. The company designs and develops high speed electric motors for low carbon, hybrid and electric vehicle applications mostly for the automotive domain.

Graduate / Junior Electronics Design Engineer:

You will work within a small team of electronics engineers and will be involved with full product design and development. Typically this will involve:

* Design and development of electronic circuits (including power, motor drive and control circuits) – schematic capture and PCB layout

* Build, assembly, prototyping, test and validation of electronics in the lab

* Involvement with fault investigation, FMEA and new product introduction

The company is small hence the role will be varied and challenging and will require a flexible attitude. As a graduate / junior electronics design engineer you will eventually own electronics projects taking new designs through to test, validation, type approval and into manufacture.

Skills / Knowledge: Graduate / Junior Electronics Design Engineer:

* Ideally a degree, masters or higher in a relevant subject (e.g. electronics engineering, computer science, physics, etc)

* Experience of the design and development of electronics (ideally for power or control applications) (graduate or 2-3 years of industry experience post graduation)

* A good understanding of analogue / digital electronics design theory (schematic capture and ideally PCB layout)

* Good communication skills, well organised, a flexible attitude and ability to manage your own projects

Others: (beneficial skills) Power Electronics Engineer:

* Experience of embedded software programming for control applications would be useful

* Experience of high-speed motor control, industrial drives, robotics, mechatronics or similar may prove useful

* Knowledge of power electronics, DC-DC converters, Inverter design or similar would be preferred

* Matlab / Similunk for control systems modelling may prove useful

* Experience of working on high reliability or safety critical systems would be ideal

* Experience of relevant design and engineering standards (e.g. ISO18750, ISO26262, etc)

Electronics engineers with an interest in the automotive, electric vehicle, hybrid / low emissions or renewables markets would find this company very interesting.
