Working as part of a team of Wireless Test Engineers, the successful graduate will contribute to the provision of a Wireless testing service, specifically performing testing on AIS devices, distress beacons, GNSS receivers and digital interfaces of maritime and radiocommunication equipment.
The successful candidate will also join our Graduate Development/Progression Scheme to ensure a full understanding of all business functions and operations. The opportunity offers a competitive salary package and annual leave entitlement and support in finding local accommodation if required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Testing of AIS and other marine products using protocol & digital interface techniques.
* Testing of distress beacons to Cospas-Sarsat / RTCM / IEC / EN test standards at the radio test laboratories and chambers at Octagon House.
* Development of test methods and other quality and departmental documentation.
* Recording test results using various electronic logbook systems and production of test reports, following company quality procedures.
* Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements or defined test plan supplied by the customer, assisting with the development of test plans with the customer as necessary.
* Close liaison with the Project Manager and/or customer, to provide technical support and ensure work is carried out accurately and within the timescales allowed.
Essential Criteria:
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
* Experience of using RF test equipment such as spectrum analysers, network analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators and RF power meters, during their studies.
* Data manipulation and strong analytical skills.
* Motivated and enthusiastic, with a willingness to learn and a flexible approach to work.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* IT proficient with the ability to use bespoke software and Microsoft packages including Windows, Word and Outlook.
* Ability to deliver work independently or as a team, to defined deadlines.
Desirable Criteria:
* A full driving licence
* Experience in an engineering environment, perhaps through completion of an industrial placement.
* Experience of testing to RF, operational and performance product related testing standards
